На Android-смартфонах наконец-то появился первый трекер в стиле AirTag — вот как он работает

The main advantage of the new Chipolo and Pebblebee trackers is that they come in the form of tags or cards that can be attached to valuable items without a Bluetooth connection. These trackers can then be used to track these items using the new Google Find My Device app in various ways.

This new system uses anonymous Bluetooth proximity data collected from millions of Android devices worldwide (starting in the United States and Canada) to locate the exact location of the item on a map through the Google Find My Device app. If the item is lost, you can use the app to find it. If it’s nearby, you can even play a sound or turn on an LED flash to help locate it.Chipolo has released two new products: the One Point key finder (USD 28 / GBP 30 / AUD 49) and the Card Point wallet tracker (USD35 / GBP35 / AUD 49), both of which use a high-speed connection to connect quickly to your Android smartphone. They also have an IPX5 protection rating, which makes them resistant to water splashes and light rain. According to Chipolo, deliveries will start on May 27th, but the first batch has already sold out and the second batch will arrive no sooner than June 10th.

Similarly, Pebblebee offers a clip tracker and card tracker that work with the new Android Find My Device service. The Key Storage Clip (USD30 / GBP25 / AUD47) and Card Wallet (USD30 /GBP25 /USD47 ) are now available for preorder.

Pebblebee also offers a smaller tracker called Tag, which weighs only 6.5 grams and provides up to eight months of battery life, thanks to its rechargeable battery. This differs from Chipolo trackers, which have replaceable batteries that last up to a year. These are not the only devices that can be tracked using the new “Find My Device” network, as Eufy’s Smart Track Link, SmartTag Card, Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones, JBL Tour Pro 2, JBL Tour One M2, and Google’s Pixel Buds Pro are all expected to receive software updates soon to add support for this network.

If privacy is a concern, the Find My Device network also supports unwanted tracking alerts on Android and iOS devices, which should theoretically eliminate some of the issues we have seen so far with AirTags.

What about Tile trackers?

You can use the Find My Device app to find new Tile trackers and make them play sounds and glow. Tile was one of the pioneers of smartphone-based trackers, but it is unlikely to succeed with Google’s new Find My Device network, at least for now. Tile was on Google’s list of web tracker brands, but the company told the Android Authority that it is currently focused on Life360, which acquired Tile in 2021. Life360 advertises as a “family search app” and offers a broader search network than Google. According to Tile, they are working on a cross-platform solution to help people find people, pets, and things based on their location. But as Chipolo and Pebblebee have demonstrated, Android users will have plenty of tracking options as the Find My Device service is being rolled out globally and new options are expected in the coming months.
