Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE: what we want to see

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5: A Cheaper Alternative to the Flagship

While the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 and the flagship Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE might be the most interesting foldable phones this year, there’s another contender – the rumored Samsung Galaxy Fold FE. This device could be a more affordable alternative to the flagships, offering a book-style design with some features and specifications of the flagships.

What we know about the Samsung Fold FE so far is still limited, but here’s a list of features that we’d love to see in the device:

1. **Design:** The device should have a book-like design, similar to the current Samsung flagships.

2. **Display:** It should have an impressive display with high resolution and a larger screen size than the previous models.

3. **Performance:** We hope it will have powerful processors and enough memory to handle heavy tasks.

4. **Camera:** A good camera system with multiple lenses and advanced features like optical zoom and night mode.

5. **Battery:** Long-lasting battery life that can last all day without needing to be charged frequently.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5: Potential Release Date Revealed

While the standard Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is expected to be released in July, according to recent reports, the Samsung Galaxy FE (Feature Edition) will not be available until September or October. This information follows a previous leak suggesting that the Galaxy Fold FE will arrive after the regular Fold 6 and Flip 6 models. Therefore, it may take some time for an affordable folding smartphone from Samsung to be available. However, there is still a possibility that the Galaxy Fold FE will be launched alongside the rest of the lineup, and we could see it as early as July 10th, when the next Samsung Unpacked event is expected. It’s also possible that the device won’t be released at all, as these are just rumors, and there’s talk of a Samsung Galaxy Z Ultra Fold as well. Therefore, it’s possible that this device will launch instead.

As for the price of the Samsung Z Fold 6 FE, leaks claim it will be around $800 or £625, or AU$1210, which is not cheap but much more affordable than the previous model. The Samsung Galaxy Fold 5 started at $1799.99, £1749, or AU2599, making it cheaper than the recent Samsung Flip 5 at $999.However, we are skeptical about this pricing information, as Samsung is likely to need to make significant cuts in specifications and features in order to achieve a low price.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE: news and leaks

We first heard about the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold FE in August when a source said that a cheaper folding model from Samsung was being tested. At the time, it was not clear whether it would be the Z Fold 6 FE or the Z Flip 6. Since then, we’ve heard that the Z Fold is codenamed “Q6,” and this rumoured cheaper model is named “Q6A.” This suggests that it’s a variant of the Galaxy Fold rather than the Flip. The names are similar, suggesting that it’ll be based on the Fold. Additionally, we learned that the FE edition of the Z Fold has a lower price because it doesn’t have a digitizer, so it won’t work with the S Pen.Recently, we heard that the Z Fold 6 FE will not support the S Pen. This is likely due to the lack of a digitizer, as reported by Ross Young on X. The lack of a digitalizer could also make the device thinner. According to reports, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold FE could have a less powerful processor, a smaller screen, and a smaller battery than “flagship” models. However, the cameras are expected to be at the “flagship level”. This means that the camera setup of the Galaxy Z FE is likely similar to that of the previous models, which include a 50MP main camera, a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, and 10 MP front camera. There is also a 4MP under-display selfie camera. However, if the information from this leak is accurate, then the battery capacity may be less than 4,400mAh, and the device is likely to use a less powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset instead of the more recent Snapdragon 8Gen 3.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE: What We Want to See

While we don’t yet know the specifications and prices of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE, we have some ideas about what we would like to see from this device. Here are the top priorities on our list:

1. A Price Below $1,000

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE: what we want to see

We hope the Z Fold 6 FE won’t be priced more than the current Z Flip 5, as Samsung’s Z Fold line has been too expensive for many people, leading to lower sales compared to the Z Flip line. We would like to see the price of the Z Fold 6 brought down to be more competitive with the Z Flip. Ideally, this would mean a price tag of no more than $1,000 (USD), £1,000 (GBP), or AU$1,500 (AUD). While this is still not cheap, it would make the device more accessible to a wider audience and undercut some of the more expensive, bulky phones on the market, such as the iPhone 15 Pro Max and Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.

2. A Great Folding Screen

A great folding screen is essential for a foldable device, and we hope the Z Fold 6 will deliver on this aspect. We want a screen that is easy to use when folded, with good viewing angles and color accuracy. The screen should also be durable and resistant to scratches and damage.Inevitably, Samsung will need to make some trade-offs in order to create an affordable Galaxy Z Fold. However, one thing we would not want to see sacrificed is the main folding display. This is the most significant feature of the device, after all, and we want it to remain large, sharp, and sleek on the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold FE.

3. No reduction in battery capacity.

Additionally, we would prefer not to see a reduction in battery capacity. While we understand that foldable phones typically have shorter battery life, we hope that Samsung can find a way to maintain the current level of battery power on the Galaxy Z Fold 6.

4. Cut costs with a mid-range chipset

Furthermore, we do not want Samsung to sacrifice performance by using a mid-range processor. We want the device to provide all-day power, so let’s hope this concern is unfounded. While a flagship chipset might be nice, it’s not essential for most daily phone use. Therefore, rather than compromising on the foldable screen or battery life, Samsung could use a smaller chipset to reduce costs on the Galaxy Z Fold 6.

Along with the lack of wireless charging and S Pen support, as well as mediocre cameras, these factors could help to bring the price down significantly without sacrificing the most important features of a foldable device.
